London, September 11 2008: WRN, the international London based Broadcast and Radio transmission company, has collaborated with Digi B Network Ltd, the company who are licensed by the Malta Communications Authority to operate a Terrestrial Digital Audio Broadcasting (T-DAB) Network, to broadcast WRN Europe in English on DAB+ to the Maltese islands.

WRN broadcasts 24/7 news and current affairs radio networks in five different languages (English, French, German, Arabic and Russian). The networks are made up of aggregated content from international public service broadcasters and renowned programme makers, presenting perspectives from around the globe. The WRN Europe service is broadcast on Sky Digital for the UK and Ireland and Hot Bird for Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. In addition to this, WRN's European network re-broadcast on a multitude of platforms, with Digi B Network being the most recent addition.

WRN Europe includes such broadcasters as National Public Radio, UN Radio and Voice of Russia. The Digi B Network, which includes WRN Europe in its line up, launched in July 2008.

DAB+ is the latest variant of the DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) standard allowing more stations to be delivered at superior audio quality. The technology is interference free and features a diverse choice of stations broadcasting nationally.

Malta is the first European country to commercially roll out a DAB+ Network. The country, who did not adopt the DAB standard, is in prime position to take on the much improved technology of DAB+, ahead of both the UK & Germany.

Sergio D'Amico, Managing Director of Digi B Network Ltd, says: "Digi B Network is proud to be associated with the first national DAB+ rollout in Europe. The Inclusion of WRN to the DAB+ ensemble is a major boost to the platform. News is an important element to us."

Marina Lois, Product Development and Distribution Manager at WRN, says: "WRN congratulates Malta on being the first European country to adopt this new technology and is excited to be a part of the project.  WRN has always sought to promote the WRN Europe station, and the international broadcasters that contribute to the service, on as many platforms as possible and the Digi B Network provides such an opportunity.'
