WRN was contacted on 17th March 2009 by Tiako I Madagasikara (I Love Madagascar, TIM), a political party founded by a group of supporters of the deposed President of Madagascar, Marc Ravalomanana.
The station is an initiative of Tiako I Madagasikara (I Love Madagascar, TIM) which is a political party in Madagascar founded by a group of individuals on July 3, 2002. It is now the largest party in the National Assembly of Madagascar with 106 of 127 seats, after the parliamentary election held on September 23, 2007.
The group had no previous experience in radio broadcasting; however, they wanted to create a series of special one-off broadcasts to reach people inside Madagascar with their message.
WRN provided advice around content, technical infrastructure, distribution methods and connectivity. Under WRN's guidance, the station was launched and broadcasting on shortwave within 24 hours.
A spokesman for Radio Mada said, "Radio Mada International has used WRN services over a short period of time when all radio broadcasts had been shut down in Madagascar due to an unexpected political situation in the country. We have been able to quickly set up good quality services with the help of WRN technical staff".
