Members of the WRN Technical and Commercial Teams descended on Amsterdam en masse for this year's IBC Convention (the largest broadcast technology convention in Europe).

I was very interested to see the new range of antenna mounts manufactured by S3 Satcoms. They have developed a number of mounts for small to medium size dishes which are quick to assemble and easy to use.

S3 Satcoms recently launched its own antenna control software and control unit which, in my opinion, looks better and is more user friendly than the Research Concepts version of the same unit. The unit is good because it will download the ephemeral data on a regular basis, meaning it can track inclined satellites without the need for a beacon receiver.

They have a bespoke service for antenna and mount installation which I found very interesting and they have subsequently quoted me for installation of two 2.4m antennas which they can deliver and install complete with cables.

I spent a long time at Dawson Dynamic learning about their new antenna systems.

I was very interested to see the new Xicom SSPA range.

I thought that the best stand award went to Harmonic, with their second floor pub (known as the barmonic).

I spent a lot of time there too! Dave Travis (WRN's Head of Engineering and Technology Solutions) and I also had fun checking out the Wii competition on the Satlink stand!

Mike Ward, WRN's Head of Operations.
