WRN Broadcast launched its new brand at the end of April 2010 in order to reflect the totality of services we offer to our clients. This was marked by a press launch that attracted substantial coverage in the trade magazines as well as on-line. Following this, on Thursday 3rd June we held a Launch Event for clients, suppliers and contacts to thank them for their business, their continued support and to introduce the new WRN Broadcast brand and focus for the future.
Primarily aimed at recent and future clients, the Launch Event focused on several key messages:
• the new brand identity - WRN Broadcast;
• the new WRN Broadcast Media Centre - the most up to date, state-of-the-art ingest, content management and playout suite in Europe today; and
• to officially launch the WRN Broadcast Media Village, our new building adjacent to the Media Centre where small to medium sized media companies can rent office space and broadcast facilities.
The event was held in the new television studio we recently completed for OH TV at our broadcast centre in Vauxhall, South London. However, the weather was so good that most of the time was spent outside enjoying the evening sunshine. We are delighted to welcome OH TV as the first new client for the Media Village and look forward to welcoming others in the coming weeks. OH TV joins an existing client, renowned radio station, Jazz FM in using studio and production space at our broadcast centre.
Most guests took advantage of the opportunity to tour the new facilities and see the content management and playout suites for themselves. The facilities highlight WRN Broadcast's focus on SD and HD playout for television and radio, content management and file delivery, bulk ingest, transcoding and storage, content verification and channel management. These are in addition to our continuing satellite and fibre distribution services including downlink and backhaul, ad insertion, encoding and multiplexing signal switching, uplinking and providing satellite capacity.
WRN Broadcast puts its clients' needs at the heart of business relationships and it was therefore a great pleasure to welcome so many guests to the event. These included Top Up TV, the UK's leading digital terrestrial pay tv company whose business we were delighted to win at the beginning of the year. Wananchi, another new client with whom we have a developing relationship, couldn't be with us, although we were pleased to announce the introduction of distribution services to its Zuku platform in Africa just a few days earlier.
Thanks to all those who attended and I look forward to WRN Broadcast continuing to be of service to our new and established clients in the months and years ahead. And I hope that those with whom we are discussing the possibility of offering services or developing a business relationship enjoyed the event as much as we all enjoyed meeting you.
The Launch Event was a great success for so many reasons - not least the time, effort and expertise that the team here at WRN Broadcast put into the evening.
Thanks to you all.
David Treadway Managing Director WRN Broadcast.
